About the Outwell Moonhill 6 Air Family Tent

The Outwell Moonhill 6 Air is a large inflatable family tent suitable for families with up to four children. With three bedrooms, it is also a popular layout for families with older children who want their own bedroom. Despite its size, it is easy to set up, making it suitable even for those who want to go camping alone with children. Instead of poles, it uses Outwell's Rigid Air technology, replacing poles with air channels for easy assembly. The four channels are easily inflated through valves located at the lower edge on one side of the tent. The only pole included is for the protected entrance, which can be installed once the tent is up. In addition to easy assembly, the tent has a durable tent fabric that not only withstands rain and wind but also rustles less than simpler fabrics when moved. Large windows create a bright and pleasant tent, and if you want to reduce visibility, there are curtains on all windows. 

Entrances
The family tent has two doors, one on the side and one at the front. The side entrance makes the tent easily accessible regardless of its placement at the campsite and can be opened up on warm days to ventilate the tent. The front opening has a two-way zipper so, for example, only the top part can be opened. The front roof protects the entrance from rain and allows shoes and equipment to be left outside the tent even in bad weather.

Ventilation
The tent has a wide vent at the back that can be adjusted to create extra airflow in the tent on warm days or in the morning. With the front opening having both a two-way zipper and a mesh door, it can be fully or partially opened to keep the temperature down in the tent, even if there are small insects around. The side door also has a mosquito net panel and can be fully opened on warm days.

 

The Living Area

The living area is spacious and provides ample space to furnish with a table and chairs for six people without it being cramped to get in and out of the tent or the inner tent. The large tinted windows provide very pleasant light throughout the room while reducing visibility. The tent windows are also equipped with roll-up curtains that can be adjusted in three positions, making it easy to choose how much light or visibility you want.

The Outwell HookTrack System makes it easy to attach lights or other accessories in the tent. The included hooks also make it possible to hang up equipment or clothes in the tent. 
 

The Sleeping Cabin

The sleeping cabin can accommodate six people but is ideally used by families with two children so that the children can have their own bedrooms or to have extra space for luggage or larger mattresses. It is divided into three bedrooms (2+2+2) but the walls between the bedrooms can be removed if one wishes to change the division or gather the family in one large bedroom. A heavier dark fabric in the sleeping cabin and a darker fabric in the outer tent over the sleeping cabin reduce the effect of many campers' worst enemy, the morning sun.

One of the bedrooms, in addition to the zipper, has a magnetic strip so it can be opened and closed without a zipper (Outwell Quick & Quiet Inner door). A solution that allows one to enter and exit the sleeping cabin without waking the rest of the family.
 

Other Features

The tent has ample ventilation that can be easily adjusted for the desired airflow. The tent fabric is completely waterproof with taped seams and is flame retardant. It also has a sealed floor sewn to the outer tent, which protects the tent against wind, insects, and dirt. The inner tent is pre-assembled upon delivery and does not need to be detached when the tent is packed up.


Questions and Answers Rigid Air/Smart Air
1. How durable are the air channels?
The channels consist of three layers. The outermost is a layer of heavy-duty polyester, then a protective layer of PVC, and finally, the actual channel in TPU. This construction makes the channels more resistant to wind than steel and fiberglass poles. However, it is important to use only the included pump and not to inflate to a higher pressure than 0.6 bar as it may damage the channels.


2. What happens if the channel gets punctured or a valve breaks? Does the tent collapse?
The channels are separate in Rigid Air tents, so the tent does not collapse if there is a puncture. All channels are easily replaceable and if there is a minor puncture, it can also be temporarily repaired with patch kits or airtight tape. Should a valve in the tents stop functioning, they can also be replaced.
