About the Outwell Vermont 7 Air Family Tent

The new Vermont 7 Air is an upgraded version of the popular and award-winning camping tents Knoxville 7SA and Vermont 7P. This family tent is a seven-person tent with three separate and spacious darkened bedrooms and two roomy living areas. The tent uses Outwell's Rigid Air System technology, where the poles are replaced with air channels for extremely easy setup. The only pole needed is a steel pole for the front, which is installed once the tent is pitched. This makes the tent quick to assemble and very stable. Combined with the durable ripstop fabric with reinforcements at key points, you get a tent that withstands very strong winds.

The tent is based on three zones, a concept commonly used in England, referred to as the outer room, inner room, and sleeping room. The outer room, with a removable floor, can be used as a dining area or for hanging wet clothes and storing equipment. The next zone is the main living room with a fully sealed floor, where you can lay down a carpet and furnish it for socializing in the evenings or on rainy days when you want to minimize going in and out of the tent. One of the sleeping cabins can also easily be packed away if you want to increase the size of the living area. The final zone is the sleeping area, consisting of three separate bedrooms with a corridor between them and an extra rear door on the tent for easy access to them directly.

The Vermont 7 Air has three entrances: one on the side, one at the back, and a large one in the front. The side door features a vestibule design with double doors, making it both rainproof and a great place to leave shoes. The rear and side doors provide easy access to both the sleeping area and the inner room, while the large front opening gives direct access to the outer room and opens up the tent on warm days. The large front door can be opened in several ways, allowing you to adjust the opening to the full width of the tent, one side, or just the top section. The door between the rooms features large mesh panels that both ventilate and let in light.

Outwell Quick & Quiet
The door between the living room and the outer room, as well as the bedroom doors, are equipped with magnetic strips in addition to zippers, allowing them to be opened and closed without using the zipper. This solution makes it easy to move between the tent’s rooms, enter and exit the sleeping cabins without waking the rest of the family, and go in and out of the tent without needing to use the zipper (if the outer door is open).

Ventilation
The Vermont 7 Air has excellent ventilation, with a large adjustable vent at the back, low vents by the windows in the living room, and finally large mesh panels in the front door. Since the tent’s side entrance also has a mesh door, you can further open up the tent to keep the temperature down even if there are a lot of insects around.

The Living Rooms

The tent features two large rooms for socializing. You can also open the door between the two rooms to create one large space. Large tinted windows along the sides and tinted window panels at the front provide a very pleasant light while also offering privacy. The tent’s windows are also equipped with roll-up curtains that can be adjusted with zippers, making it easy to control how much light or privacy you want.

The outer room, thanks to its large windows, offers a fantastic view and can also be used for dining or socializing. The removable floor makes it easy to clean, so heavy traffic in and out of the tent in all weather conditions is less of an issue. The outer tent has a protective edge along the bottom of the outer room to keep out moisture and reduce the risk of drafts. The large front door can be opened in several ways, allowing you to adjust the opening from the full width of the tent to just a single panel. When the tent is fully opened, the outer room functions more like a sunshade, creating the feeling of sitting outdoors under a roof.

The inner room has a fully sealed floor. By closing the door to the outer room, you can ensure there are no drafts or insects. This feature is highly appreciated in the evenings. The sewn-in floor also provides a better climate inside the tent with reduced condensation and improved warmth in colder weather.

Outwell HookTrack System
The Outwell HookTrack System makes it easy to attach lights or other accessories to the tent. The included hooks also make it possible to hang equipment or clothes inside the tent.

Sleeping Cabins

The tent features three separate sleeping rooms, with one large cabin for three people on one side and two cabins for two people on the other side. A corridor runs between the sleeping rooms. A unique detail is the extra spacious sleeping cabin, providing additional room in both length and height compared to standard tent cabins, where the beds typically take up the entire length and the back wall often results in low height over much of the room. Perfect for moving luggage into the cabin or simply having extra space to move around.

Outwell Dark Inners
The sleeping cabins are made with a heavier, darker fabric that minimizes the impact of one of many campers' worst enemies—the morning sun. The fabric above the sleeping cabin also allows less light penetration. Inside the sleeping cabin, there is also a curtain that can be pulled down over the vent to reduce light entry from the vent.

Other Features

The tent fabric is fully waterproof with taped seams and is flame-retardant. The main part of the tent also features a sealed floor that is sewn to the outer tent, protecting against wind, insects, and dirt. The front section (outer room) has a loose floor with raised edges, while the outer tent has an extended edge for additional protection. The vestibule includes a standard door on the outer side and a mesh door leading into the tent itself. The door between the rooms features large mesh panels and a magnetic strip opening in the center. The front door consists of four panels: two tinted windows and two mesh panels, all of which can be closed to reduce visibility and light entry. The tent pegs are color-coded for easier setup.

Questions and Answers: Outwell Air
1. How durable are the air channels?
The channels consist of three layers: a durable outer polyester layer, a protective PVC layer, and the inner TPU channel. This construction makes the channels more wind-resistant than steel or fiberglass poles. However, it’s important to only use the included pump and not exceed a pressure of 0.6 bar, as over-inflating can damage the channels.

2. What happens if a channel punctures or a valve breaks? Will the tent collapse?
The air channels are separate, so the tent will not collapse if one channel is punctured. All channels can be easily replaced, and smaller holes can be repaired using Outwell repair kits, duct tape, or silicone-based tape (capable of withstanding pressures over 1 bar). If a valve stops functioning, it is also easy to replace.
