Imagine not having to use tent poles when setting up your tent. With Outwell Sunhill 5 Air, it's possible. All you need to do is attach the tent fabric to the ground, then pump up each channel with the included pump. The only pole is over the front entrance and is mounted once the tent is pitched. Simple, smart, and quick. In addition, the tent has a sleeping cabin that can be divided into two bedrooms, as well as a living area with large windows and a fully sewn-in floor that accommodates a table and chairs for a family of up to 5 people.

About the Outwell Sunhill 5 Air Family Tent

The Outwell Sunhill 5 Air is an inflatable family tent for families with up to three children. Thanks to being relatively lightweight for an air tent, it is easy to pitch by oneself, making it also suitable for those who want to go camping alone with the children. Instead of poles, it uses Outwell's Rigid Air technology, where poles are replaced with air channels for easy setup. The three channels are easily inflated via the valve on the lower edge of one side of the tent. The only pole included is for the protected entrance, and it can be mounted once the tent is pitched. Besides the easy setup, the tent has a durable tent fabric that not only withstands rain and wind but also rustles less than simpler fabrics when it moves. Large windows make the tent bright and pleasant, and if you want to reduce visibility, there are curtains on all windows.

Ventilation
The tent has a wide vent at the back that can be adjusted to create extra airflow in the tent during warm days or in the morning. With the front opening having both a two-way zipper and a mesh door, you can fully open it or just the top part to keep the temperature down inside the tent, even when there are small insects around.

 

The Living Area

The living area is large enough to be furnished with a table and chairs for five people. The large tinted windows provide a very pleasant light throughout the room while also reducing visibility. The tent's windows are also equipped with roll-up curtains that can be adjusted in three positions, making it easy to choose how much light or visibility you want.

The Outwell HookTrack System makes it easy to attach lights or other accessories in the tent. The included hooks also allow for hanging equipment or clothes in the tent.

The Sleeping Cabin

The sleeping cabin accommodates five people but is ideally used by families with two children for extra space for luggage or larger mattresses. It is divided into two bedrooms (2+3), but the walls between the bedrooms can be removed if you want to gather the whole family in one large bedroom. A heavier dark fabric in the sleeping cabin and a darker fabric in the outer tent over the sleeping cabin reduce the effect of many campers' worst enemy, the morning sun.

One bedroom, in addition to the zipper, has a magnetic strip so it can be opened and closed without a zipper (Outwell Quick & Quiet Inner door). A solution that allows entering and exiting the sleeping cabin without waking the rest of the family.
 

Other Features

The tent has ample ventilation that can be easily adjusted to achieve the desired airflow. The tent fabric is completely waterproof with taped seams and is flame retardant. It also has a sealed floor sewn to the outer tent, which protects the tent against wind, insects, and dirt. The inner tent is pre-assembled upon delivery and does not need to be detached when packing the tent. 


Questions and Answers Rigid Air/Smart Air
1. How durable are the air channels?
The channels consist of three layers. The outermost is a layer of heavy-duty polyester, then a protective layer of PVC, and finally, the actual channel in TPU. This construction makes the channels more resistant to wind than steel and fiberglass poles. However, it is important to use only the included pump and not to inflate to a higher pressure than 0.6 bar as it may damage the channels.


2. What happens if the channel gets punctured or a valve breaks? Does the tent collapse?
The channels are separate in Rigid Air tents, so the tent does not collapse if there is a puncture. All channels are easily replaceable and if there is a minor puncture, it can also be temporarily repaired with patch kits or airtight tape. Should a valve in the tents stop functioning, they can also be replaced.
