Imagine not having to use tent poles when setting up your tent. With the Outwell Sunhill 3 Air, it's possible. All you need to do is attach the tent fabric to the ground, then inflate each channel using the included pump. The only pole is over the entrance at the front and is installed after the tent is pitched. Simple, smart, and fast. The tent also features a sleeping cabin with reduced light entry and a living area with large windows and a sewn-in floor that accommodates a small table and chairs for a family of up to 3 people.

About Outwell Sunhill 3 Air Family Tent

The Outwell Sunhill 3 Air is an inflatable family tent suitable for a couple or a family of three. Being relatively light for an air tent, it is easy to pitch by oneself, making it also ideal for solo camping trips with children. Instead of poles, it utilizes Outwell's Rigid Air technology where poles are replaced with air channels for easy setup. The three channels are easily inflated via the valve on the lower edge on one side of the tent. The only pole included is for the protected entrance and can be installed after the tent is pitched. Besides easy setup, the tent features a durable fabric that not only withstands rain and wind but also rustles less than simpler fabrics when it moves. Large windows provide a bright and pleasant tent, and for privacy, there are curtains on all windows.

Ventilation
The tent has a wide vent at the back that can be adjusted to create extra airflow in the tent during warm days or in the morning. With the front opening having both a two-way zipper and a mesh door, you can fully open it or just the top part to keep the temperature down inside the tent, even when there are small insects around.

 

The Living Area

The living area is spacious enough to be furnished with a small table and chairs. The large tinted windows provide very pleasant light throughout the room while reducing visibility from outside. The tent's windows also have roll-up curtains adjustable in three positions, making it easy to choose how much light or privacy one wants.

The Outwell HookTrack System makes it easy to attach lights or other accessories in the tent. The included hooks also allow for hanging equipment or clothes inside the tent.

The Sleeping Cabin

The sleeping cabin accommodates three people but can ideally be used by a couple for extra space for luggage or larger mattresses. Heavier dark fabric in the sleeping cabin and a darker outer tent fabric over the sleeping area reduce the effect of many campers' worst enemy, the morning sun. In addition to the zipper, the bedroom has a magnetic strip so it can be opened and closed without a zipper (Outwell Quick & Quiet Inner door), a solution that allows entering and exiting the sleeping cabin without waking up the rest of the family.

Other Features

The tent has ample ventilation that can be easily adjusted for the desired airflow. The tent fabric is completely waterproof with taped seams and is flame retardant. It also has a sealed floor sewn to the outer tent, protecting the tent against wind, insects, and dirt. The inner tent is pre-assembled upon delivery and does not need to be detached when packing the tent.

Questions and Answers about Rigid Air/Smart Air
1. How durable are the air channels?
The channels consist of three layers. The outermost layer is robust polyester, then a protective layer of PVC, and finally the channel itself in TPU. This construction makes the channels more resistant to wind than steel and fiberglass poles. However, it is important to use only the included pump and not to inflate to a pressure higher than 0.6 bar, as it may damage the channels.

2. What happens if a channel gets punctured or a valve breaks? Does the tent collapse?
The channels are separate in Rigid Air tents, so the tent does not collapse if a channel gets punctured. All channels are easy to replace, and minor holes can also be temporarily fixed with repair patches or airtight tape. If a valve in the tents stops working, they can also be replaced.
