Quickly pitched camping tent for the family on the go

With a design reminiscent of a cottage, the Outwell Avondale 5PA is a very nice camping tent suitable for families with up to three children. Thanks to air channels, the tent is very simple and quick to assemble. All one needs to do is secure the tent fabric to the ground and then inflate each channel with the included pump. The only pole included is for the sun/rain shelter at the front, which can be easily mounted once the tent is up. Then, attach the guy lines, and the tent is ready to use. Simple, smart, and quick. In other words, it eliminates the most time-consuming part of assembling, threading, and erecting the tent with poles.

The big news for 2023 is Outwell's Quick & Quiet Access, a magnetic strip in the front door that allows it to open and close without using the zipper. Perfect for those moments when you quickly and easily want to get in and out of the tent without fully opening the door.

About the Outwell Avondale 5PA Family Tent

The Outwell Avondale 5PA is a family tent designed for a family with up to three children or a group of up to four people. Instead of poles, it uses Outwell's Rigid Air technology, replacing the poles with air channels for easy assembly. The four channels are easily inflated via the valve on the lower edge of one side of the tent. The only pole included is for the protected entrance, and it can be mounted when the tent is up. In other words, the tent can easily be pitched by one person. Besides the easy assembly, the tent has a durable tent fabric that not only withstands rain and wind but also rustles less than simpler fabrics when it moves. Large windows provide a bright and pleasant tent, and if you want to reduce visibility, there are curtains on all windows. 

The family tent has two doors, one on the side and a large one at the front. The side entrance makes the tent easily accessible regardless of its placement on the campsite and can be opened on warm days to ventilate the tent. The large opening at the front covers the entire front, making it easy to fully open the tent and use the living area as a protected outdoor room. The roof at the front protects the entrance against rain.

Outwell Quick & Quiet
A great feature on the front door is that, in addition to the zipper, it also has a magnetic strip in the middle, allowing you to enter and exit the tent without opening the zipper. The door to one of the bedrooms also has a magnetic strip in addition to the zipper. A solution that makes it easy to enter and exit the tent during the day and to move in and out of the sleeping cabin without having to fuss with zippers.
 

Outwell Crossflow Ventilation
The ventilation at the back can be fully opened to create extra airflow in the tent on hot days or in the morning. The front ventilation is also generously sized for better cross-flow. With the large opening at the front also having a mesh door, the tent can be fully opened to keep the temperature down in the tent even when there are lots of bugs around.
 

The Living Area

The living area is very spacious and can be furnished with tables, chairs, and other camping furniture. The large tinted windows provide a very pleasant light throughout the room while also reducing visibility. The tent's windows are also equipped with roll-up curtains adjustable in three positions, making it easy to choose how much light or visibility you want. 

Outwell HookTrack System
The Outwell HookTrack System makes it easy to attach lamps or other accessories in the tent. The included hooks also make it possible to hang up equipment or clothes in the tent. 
 

The Sleeping Cabin

The sleeping cabin consists of two bedrooms with space for two and three people respectively, but is ideally used by families with two children to have extra space for luggage or larger mattresses. A heavier dark fabric in the sleeping cabin and the outer tent's fabric over the sleeping cabin reduces the effect of many campers' worst enemy, the morning sun. The sleeping cabin also has a curtain that can be rolled down over the ventilation to reduce the light coming in through it.

One bedroom, in addition to the zipper, has a magnetic strip so it can be opened and closed without a zipper (Outwell Quick & Quiet Inner door). A solution that allows entering and exiting the sleeping cabin without waking up the rest of the family.  

Other

The tent fabric is completely waterproof with taped seams and is flame retardant treated. It also has a sealed floor sewn to the outer tent, which protects the tent against wind, insects, and dirt. The inner tent is pre-assembled upon delivery and does not need to be detached when the tent is packed up. 
 

FAQ Outwell Air

1. How durable are the air channels?
The channels consist of three layers. The outermost is a layer of heavy-duty polyester, then a protective layer of PVC, and then the actual channel in TPU. The construction makes the channels more resistant to wind than steel and fiberglass poles. However, it is important to only use the included pump and not to inflate to a higher pressure than recommended for the tent as it may damage the channels. 


2. What happens if there's a hole in the channel or a valve breaks? Does the tent collapse?
The channels are separate in Air tents. So, the tent does not collapse if there should be a hole. All channels can easily be replaced, and if it's a minor hole, it can also be temporarily fixed with an Outwell repair patch, duct tape, or silicone tape. Should a valve in the tent fail, it can also be replaced.
