Sleeping in a hammock

Sleeping in a hammock may seem strange in the beginning, but once you get used to it you will discover that it is a fantastic way to spend the night in natural surroundings. Begin at a low height so you will feel more secure. As nights are often colder you may wish to supplement the hammock with extra insulation. Here are a few tips about things we think you might wish to consider before you sleep outdoors in a hammock.
 

• Rain: If you plan on sleeping in a hammock no matter the weather conditions, then you should supplement the hammock with tarp that you can hang above you if it rains
• Cold: The colder the outdoor temperature, the easier it is to become cold from underneath. Add insulation around the hammock, hang an extra sleeping bag against the underside or place a mat inside the hammock
• Mosquitoes and insects: If insects bother you, you might wish to buy the mosquito netting Robens makes to fit their hammock
• Sleeping bags: Normal sleeping bags work well but a sleeping bag with a zip in the middle/at the top instead of the side will make things easier
