How long can a bag awning be on the caravan?

For most caravans, you need to measure it yourself. What you need to know is the length of the straight part of the caravan's awning rail. For caravans with a front slope, they can generally handle a height difference of up to 5 cm and preferably no more than 15 cm into the slope.

If the height difference becomes too great, it may become difficult to close the bag of the awning, and there is a risk of water pooling on the fabric.

Tips for choosing a bag awning

  • Measure carefully before ordering
  • Choose an awning that provides protection over the door and has plenty of space for furniture underneath
  • The longer the awning, the heavier it will be to mount and roll up
  • Different brands offer different accessories. Check which accessories you prefer before choosing an awning
  • A windscreen or sidewall makes a big difference in how functional the awning will be

For caravans with a front slope
For caravans with a front slope, the awnings generally handle a height difference of about 5 cm, provided the slope is not too steep. Preferably, you should not go more than 15 cm into the slope. For caravans with a slope and a front door, it is rarely an issue to place the awning so the door is protected. If you are unsure, feel free to send us a picture, and we will take a look.
