What to Consider When Choosing a Water Tap for Your Caravan or Motorhome

Choosing the right water tap for your caravan or motorhome is crucial for ensuring functionality and convenience in your water system. Here are some key factors to consider:

• Tap with Microswitch: Many caravan and motorhome taps are equipped with a microswitch that activates the water pump when the tap is opened. This is especially common in simpler systems where the pump is not pressure-controlled. If your system uses a microswitch, you need a compatible tap. Check your electrical system to ensure the new tap works properly with the microswitch. If you choose a tap without a microswitch for a system that requires one, the pump will not activate.


• Tap without Microswitch: If your system is pressure-controlled, meaning the pump activates automatically when the pressure drops, you can choose a standard tap without a microswitch. These are easier to install and can be used in more advanced water systems.
• Folding Spout: If the tap is mounted under a cover, such as in kitchen modules with folding lids, you need a tap with a folding spout. This allows you to fold the tap down when not in use and close the lid to save space. Folding taps are also practical in smaller spaces where functionality and flexibility are important.
• Single or Mixer Tap: Choose between a single cold water tap or a mixer tap that provides both hot and cold water, depending on your water system. Mixer taps are particularly important if you have a water heater installed in your caravan or motorhome.
• Additional Features: Consider if you need additional features, such as a pull-out spout (ideal for sinks) or built-in water filters to improve water quality directly at the tap.

2. Shower Mixer

There are various solutions available, so ensure you get the correct connections and check if a microswitch is needed to fit your system. Fit: Ensure that the new tap's connections are compatible with your existing hoses and fittings.

• Mounting Hole: Ensure the tap's mounting bracket fits the hole in your bench or sink.
