HSC cylinder and key – how the HSC code system works

HSC locks are commonly used in caravans and motorhomes and are based on a code system where the cylinder and key must have the same designation to function together. Each cylinder is marked with a code, for example FW 100, and requires a key with exactly the same code.

 

What do HSC codes mean?

The HSC system consists of a number of standard codes, which means that multiple cylinders can share the same code. If two people have a cylinder and key with the same code, for example FW 100, the keys will fit both locks.

Things to consider

Since HSC is based on standard codes, it is not a unique locking system. This means that others with the same code can open the lock. The system is therefore mainly designed for convenience and standard replacement rather than high security.

 

Tips when purchasing

Always check which code your existing cylinder has before ordering. We only have access to a limited number of codes, but you are welcome to contact us before placing an order to see if we can source a cylinder with the correct code. Often, you need to visit an authorized workshop to get the exact match. If you do not have a code, you will need to replace both the cylinder and key with a new matching set.

NOTE: We regularly change which codes we have in stock for cylinders, but if you purchase a key and cylinder at the same time, they will always match.
