HSC cylinder and key – how the HSC coding system works

HSC locks are commonly used in caravans and motorhomes. The system is based on a code where the cylinder and key must have the same designation to work together. Each cylinder is marked with a code, for example FW 100, and requires a key with exactly the same code.

What do HSC codes mean?

The HSC system consists of a number of standard codes, which means that several cylinders or keys may have the same code. If two people have a cylinder and key with the same code, for example FW 100, their keys will fit both locks.

  • The cylinder and key must have the same code
  • Several locks can share the same code
  • One key fits all cylinders with the same designation

Advantages of HSC locks

  • Easy to replace a cylinder or purchase additional keys
  • Standardised system – spare parts are easy to find
  • Commonly used in caravans and motorhomes

Important information

As the HSC system uses standard codes, it is not a unique locking system. This means that other people with the same code can open the lock. The system is therefore primarily designed for convenience and easy standardised replacement rather than high security.

Purchasing tips

Unfortunately, we are unable to order specific key numbers. In some cases, you may be able to contact an authorised workshop or locksmith, but it is often necessary to replace both the cylinder and the key. If you do not know the code, you will need to replace both the cylinder and key with a new matching set bearing the same designation.

PLEASE NOTE: We regularly change the code of the keys and cylinders we keep in stock. However, if you purchase a key and cylinder at the same time, they will always fit each other.
