The AK 161 is designed for braked trailers up to 1600 kg and features a visual open indicator and a safety mechanism that prevents false locking. This mechanism, an internal green lever, is only activated when the coupling is properly mounted, ensuring reliable locking.

The handle is designed for user comfort, with an ergonomic, soft plastic cover that prevents hand slippage. A wear indicator provides information about the condition of the coupling and towing device, while Soft-Dock protects both the user and the vehicle from damage. For added security, a pressure locking feature is available as an option.
