AK 161 is designed for braked trailers up to 1600 kg and features a visual open-indication and a safety mechanism that prevents apparent locking. This mechanism, an internal green lever, is activated only when the coupling is correctly mounted, ensuring reliable locking.

The handle is designed for user comfort, with an ergonomic, soft plastic cover that prevents slipping. A wear indicator provides information about the condition of the coupling and the towing device, while Soft-Dock protects both users and vehicles from damage. For extra security, a push lock feature is available as an option.
