About Outwell Vermont 7 Air Family Tent
The new Vermont 7 Air is a developed version of the popular and award-winning camping tents Knoxville 7SA and Vermont 7P. This family tent is a seven-person tent with three spacious darkened bedrooms and two generous living areas. It uses Outwell’s Rigid Air System, replacing traditional poles with air tubes for extremely easy pitching. The only pole required is a steel front pole that is mounted after the tent is erected. This results in a tent that is quick to pitch and highly stable. Combined with the durable ripstop fabric and reinforced stress points, this tent can withstand very strong winds.
The tent is built around a three-zone layout — a concept commonly used in the UK, dividing the tent into porch area, living area, and sleeping quarters. The porch area has a removable groundsheet and can be used as a dining space, for hanging wet clothes, or for gear storage. The next zone is the main living area with a fully sealed groundsheet — ideal for laying down carpet and furnishing for evening or rainy-day relaxation when traffic in and out of the tent should be minimized. One of the inner tents can be removed to increase the size of the living area. The final zone contains three separate bedrooms with a corridor between them and an additional back door that provides easy direct access.
Vermont 7 Air has three entrances: one on the side, one at the back, and a large front entrance. The side door features a vestibule design with double doors, making it rainproof and a practical spot to leave shoes. The back and side doors provide easy access to the sleeping area and inner room, while the large front opening grants direct access to the porch area and opens up the tent on warm days. The large front door can be opened in multiple ways: across the full width, just one side, or only the top. The door between rooms has large mesh panels for ventilation and daylight.
Outwell Quick & Quiet
The door between the inner and outer living areas, as well as the bedroom doors, features magnetic strips in addition to zippers — allowing quiet and zipper-free access. This solution makes it easier to move between the tent’s sections, enter and exit the bedrooms without disturbing others, and get in and out of the tent without using the zipper (if the outer door is open).
Ventilation
Vermont 7 Air features excellent ventilation with a large adjustable vent at the rear, low vents by the living room windows, and large mesh panels in the front door. Since the side entrance also has a mesh door, you can open the tent further to cool it down even when insects are active.
Living Areas
The tent includes two spacious living areas. You can also open the door between them to create one large space. Large tinted windows along the sides and front provide pleasant lighting while maintaining privacy. The windows are equipped with roll-away curtains that are adjusted with zippers, making it easy to control light and privacy.
Thanks to the large windows, the porch area offers a fantastic view and can be used for dining or socializing. The removable groundsheet is easy to clean, so frequent entry and exit — regardless of weather — isn’t a problem. The outer tent has a protective skirt around the base of the porch to keep moisture out and reduce drafts. The large front door can be opened in several ways — from fully open across the tent's width to a single panel. When fully opened, the room functions like a sunshade, offering the feeling of sitting outside under a roof.
The inner room has a fully sealed groundsheet. By closing the door to the porch area, you can ensure there are no drafts or bugs entering — a greatly appreciated feature during evenings. The sewn-in groundsheet also improves the indoor climate by reducing condensation and retaining warmth in cooler weather.
Outwell Light System
Outwell Vermont 7 Air is equipped with a dimmable LED light strip in the living area ceiling, offering a pleasant ambient light. It is controlled by a switch located outside on one of the air tubes and powered via USB (e.g., power bank, power station, or phone charger — not included).
Outwell HookTrack System
The Outwell HookTrack System makes it easy to attach lamps or accessories inside the tent. The included hooks also allow you to hang equipment or clothes conveniently.
Sleeping Cabins
The tent features three separate sleeping rooms, with one large cabin for three people on one side and two cabins for two people on the other side. A corridor runs between the sleeping rooms. A unique detail is the extra spacious sleeping cabin, providing additional room in both length and height compared to standard tent cabins, where the beds typically take up the entire length and the back wall often results in low height over much of the room. Perfect for moving luggage into the cabin or simply having extra space to move around.
Outwell Dark Inners
The sleeping cabins are made with a heavier, darker fabric that minimizes the impact of one of many campers' worst enemies—the morning sun. The fabric above the sleeping cabin also allows less light penetration. Inside the sleeping cabin, there is also a curtain that can be pulled down over the vent to reduce light entry from the vent.
Other Features
The tent fabric is fully waterproof with taped seams and is flame-retardant. The main part of the tent also features a sealed floor that is sewn to the outer tent, protecting against wind, insects, and dirt. The front section (outer room) has a loose floor with raised edges, while the outer tent has an extended edge for additional protection. The vestibule includes a standard door on the outer side and a mesh door leading into the tent itself. The door between the rooms features large mesh panels and a magnetic strip opening in the center. The front door consists of four panels: two tinted windows and two mesh panels, all of which can be closed to reduce visibility and light entry. The tent pegs are color-coded for easier setup.
Questions and Answers: Outwell Air
1. How durable are the air channels?
The channels consist of three layers: a durable outer polyester layer, a protective PVC layer, and the inner TPU channel. This construction makes the channels more wind-resistant than steel or fiberglass poles. However, it’s important to only use the included pump and not exceed a pressure of 0.6 bar, as over-inflating can damage the channels.
2. What happens if a channel punctures or a valve breaks? Will the tent collapse?
The air channels are separate, so the tent will not collapse if one channel is punctured. All channels can be easily replaced, and smaller holes can be repaired using Outwell repair kits, duct tape, or silicone-based tape (capable of withstanding pressures over 1 bar). If a valve stops functioning, it is also easy to replace.
